How to choose the right frames for you

How much time do you spend on your personal style?

Maybe you’re someone who is so busy that you don’t have time to wonder if your shirt matches your pants and your shoes. Or maybe you’re a business professional who wants your style to communicate intelligence and authority. You could be someone who loves fashion and wants to share it with the world.

There’s no right or wrong answer, but your choice of eyewear can certainly help make your personal style decisions easier. We love that there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to eyewear, but there are some things to consider before deciding what kind of frame works best for you and your lifestyle.

If you are that super busy person…

This could go a couple of ways: you might want a pair of glasses that goes with absolutely everything, or you might want a pair of statement frames that pops out from other items you might be wearing.

What will you be more comfortable wearing?

If you think you’re leaning towards a more classic look, it’s tough to go wrong with a handcrafted acetate frame in a neutral colour, or a metal frame.

But if you’re someone who already wears a lot of neutral colours, you might fancy something that stands out a bit more. If you’re not sure that you want to go straight for a bright red or green frame, consider some alternatives to black, grey, or brown such as purple or blue – in the right hue, they’re similar to neutrals but stand out a bit more than traditional choices.

Or you could really take it up a notch with the aforementioned bright red or green frame. You can be both busy and bold!

If you are that savvy business person…

We don’t want to pigeonhole corporate folks and suggest that they’re all conservative when it comes to personal style, but we also understand that not everyone is able to go to their workplace with a super funky frame and not face a bit of side-eye.

Whether you’re more comfortable going with the flow or flying in the face of your peers, we’re here to support your choice.

But one thing we know for sure is: you don’t have time to fuss with your glasses every day.

That’s why fit is that much more important for you – you can’t be worrying about whether or not your glasses are sitting straight or sliding down your nose!

It also might be in your best interests to have more than one pair. The workplace has more screens than ever, and they’re all at different distances. This can make it tricky to get everything you need out of one pair of glasses.

Take advantage of multi-pair discounts and you’ll get the flexibility you need to get your job done.

If you’re that fashion-forward individual…

The natural first choice is a statement frame but really, the world’s your oyster. The great thing about eyewear today is that you don’t have to go loud to make an impact (though we fully support a frame you can spot from across the room).

If you want your eyewear to convey a sense of style but aren’t sure about bright colours, you might want to look for a frame that has lots of details, like interesting rivets, a unique temple design, or a pop of color on the back of the frame – things you can only see up-close.

Another alternative to bright colors or patterns is shape: there are many more options than your regular rectangle that can really reflect a unique sense of style.

If you’re still not sure what frame would suit your personal style best, we are always here to help.

Come try on a variety of frames and see what feels best!
